Do you know what satori means in Japanese?
It’s usually translated as enlightenment. I just learned there is another satori.
One is 悟り(A) and the other one is 覚り (B).
Here are the definitions.
(Hope you can see Japanese characters above. If not please see the
picture)
A: To gain knowledge or experience. Enlighten: to give (someone) greater knowledge and understanding about a subject or situation (The New Oxford American Dictionary, 2nd edition).
B: To realize and understand about yourself and gain answers by thinking by yourself. To awaken.
What? It is OK. I don’t really get it either. But it is important to feel the difference between the
two.
A is more like you have a great understanding of something. But B is more like something will awake up inside you. What is something? I don’t’ know...
I think that is SOMETHING that each of us to find out.
It could be your new ability. It could be something you didn’t know about yourself. Whatever that is, we need to keep challenging to ourselves to find our own answers to
that.
Let's get something awaken inside us this year!
