[Available on all the membership levels] 3-dan is a graduation exam. You need to show that you have good understandings of kendo movements, reihō and chakusō. Also you can perform them correctly. I have been an examiner in at least 3 countries. My impression is exams of 3-dan and up are a lot harder than those in Japan. I really think that is a good trend because if you learn a good kendo at early stage, your kendo will stay better and improve in the future.

Beginners practice the basic one over and over for months and then when they put bogu on they need to strike in a different form of ki ken tai icchi.
