For the last 5 years at the festival, we did several things to recruit new members even though our club is more than 2.5 hours away from the city. No new students. Well, some came and talked to us but no new students.
I went there to recruit new students and let the community know about the kendo. But I didn't feel like I was doing any of them.
But actually people out there were watching us and appreciating what we have been doing.
That was a moment that changed my perception on
this demonstration.
As long as we don't quit, we can change something and someone or we can reach to people. And this experience changed my perception too.
If I quit the demonstration a few years ago, I
wouldn't have known that there was someone who enjoyed and appreciated our demonstration... EVERY YEAR!
I will not quit what I've been doing. I will keep sharing my experiences and providing kendo contents.
If you want to
continue kendo, please do. Please don't quit. You cannot see any changes on surface but some things are changing around you and in you. We just cannot notice the changes.
