KFL Newsletter April 2017

Hope this finds you well. Here in a little city of USA, our cherry blossom bloomed. My wife and I planted the tree before my daughter was born. It’s been 8 years. The tree has grown nice and big. And our daughter have grown also nice and tall ☺
In Japan, April is the new start. Students start their new school year. Companies welcome their new employees.

New start, new life.

Let’s not to forget how we felt at beginning. Worry? Excitement? No.

You were enthusiastic to take a step toward your future. I think we are all worried and excited when we start a new thing.

But we are really enthusiastic to find out what will be waiting for us when we keep going forward.

Let’s be enthusiastic all the time!
This is What We Use In Japan
There are many different kinds of bokuto out there. Different because they have different purposes.

So Is your bokuto really for kendo?

For some reasons, I couldn't find the bokuto we use in Japan for kendo. So I got them myself from Japan.

Please get and feel what we use in Japan first before you use something else.

+ 3 Kamae You Should Know

There are three kamae you need to know. Are they chudan, jodan and gedan? No. Or some others from old kendo schools? No.

They are crucial in kendo and other budo to have during keiko and fight. They are called....

Mi-Gamae, Kokoro-Gamae and Ki-Gamae.
+ Vote to Your Favorite T-Shirt Design
We have so many designs from participants from all over the world. I really appreciate them!

Please go ahead and click here to vote to which one you would like to have on your t-shirt. I will make fundraising T-shirts with the top 3 designs.

This contest benefits everyone because
  1. We can wear a t-shirt with awesome kendo/samurai design
  2. The designers have opportunity to be known to the big kendo (possibly budo) community of the world
  3. We can promote kendo culture by wearing the t-shirt!
  4. Make more videos instructed by my sensei and share them with you!
Please make sure to vote! This fundraising is to help me bring my sensei from Japan to USA and do other kendo activities.
