Well, I wish this is not always the case but it seems like…
I chose the hard way to deal with my back pain after seeing 4 doctors.
There is one way to make it easier for me to deal the pain; to burn the nerves. Then I won’t feel any pain for 6 to 12 months. And when I feel
a pain again, they’ll do the same thing.
What do you think? Do you think it is the way to go? Probably it is for those who don’t do any sports at regular basis.
If I do kendo without feeling pains then it is great! But that will lead me to a major surgery because this procedure does not solve the main issues.Basically I have fractures in a part of my spine and that are causinginstability of my spine. And that
caused a sliding vertebra. Some disks are squashed due to dehydration.
Apparently the fractures might not heal. But by strengthening my core muscles I may be able to prevent its slippage from getting worse.
But if I don’t feel pain, I cannot tell even when the slippage gets worse. That is a worst thing ever.
So I chose not to get the pain management that requires to burn the nerves.
Instead, I chose to strengthen my core muscles. It certainly takes a long time to develop. And it is hard to see if it is really working or not. I still feel pains all over my back. Sometimes I feel pain and weakness in my legs. Still suffering a lot.
But it is like kendo. It takes time to improve and we don’t really know how much we have progressed. But we don’t quit. We keep going. We fix our bad habits and nurture good
habits.
Now even though I cannot even tell if I am becoming better or not, I just keep doing my physio therapy to strengthen my core muscles hoping one day I feel no pain.
It is really hard to turn down kendo events. It really hurts me. Not only because I cannot train but also I cannot even help others.
Sometimes it is a part of commitment, isn’t it? I have committed to fix my back in this
hard way so I need to follow through my decision.
Again teachings from kendo helped me.
