I hope you enjoy them. Feel free to give them to your friends.
Now why did I make them and wanted to share them with you?
The Person Who was on the Committee that Made the Concept of Kendo
I have been reading Kendo Kowa (Kendo Lessons) by the late Chutaro Ogawa sensei (9-dan). He was on the Committee when they made the Concept of Kendo and the Purpose of Kendo.
He defines good kendo as...
Kendo that Fulfills The Concept of Kendo and Its Purposes.
What a simple answer yet so true!
And he emphases "Makoto", which means truth, sincere or honesty. We must strive to become honest without living not against the principles of the nature.
And he talks about Mochida sensei (10-dan) in the book and said,
"Mochida sensei was a truly honest person. He was honest and did not have ego that shows off his abilities. Whatever he did, it was following the principles of the nature so he never did anything wrong. The great thing about him was that he was doing it without thinking. That was a part of his nature. He was a true kendoist".
Keep the promises you make and accomplish them with responsibilities. Live with sincerity.
With the word, katana or ken, kendo can stay ken-do, not anything else.
Then the purpose of kendo.
This is what kendo is and what kendo gives us. But we must strive to accomplish those.
I though those images are very appropriate gifts for you especially if you are seeking the way.
Hope you like them!
